Teltonika KeepCam Alternatives: 5 AI Dashcams for UK Fleets in 2026

Charles Alexis

The KeepCam is a strong new option, but it isn’t the only AI dashcam built for light commercial fleets.

What you’re comparing against

The Teltonika KeepCam is a 4G AI dashcam for light vehicles. It combines tracking, live video, forward collision warnings and optional driver monitoring. It supports up to 2 extra camera modules, recognises up to 200 drivers and has supercapacitor backup to protect footage in a crash. Read our KeepCam and ProCam explainer for the full picture.

Any alternative worth looking at should match most of that. Here are five we’d put on a shortlist.

1. Hikvision AE-DI2032-G40

A well-known 4G industry dashcam with up to 3 video channels, 1080P front recording and dual TF card storage up to 512 GB each. Its published ADAS and DSM list is one of the most detailed around, covering traffic sign recognition, headway warnings, seatbelt detection and smoking.

Good for: Fleets that want a mature, well-documented camera.

Watch out for: It needs an industrial SIM and is built around Hikvision’s own platform. It’s also IP4X, so not waterproof. We compare it in depth in our KeepCam vs Hikvision G40 post. Traknova integrates with Hikvision.

2. Streamax AD Plus 2.0

Streamax is one of the most widely deployed AI dashcam makers globally. The AD Plus combines tracking, dashcam, ADAS and driver monitoring in one unit. It detects lane departure, forward collision, phone use and missing seatbelts. Storage runs across two TF cards.

Good for: Fleets that want proven AI and broad support across fleet platforms.

Watch out for: Some integrators report the unit struggles when lots of AI alarms fire while you’re also pulling live video. Test it under real conditions before rolling out.

3. Jimi IoT JC261

An AI 4G dashcam with live video, ADAS alerts, GPS route replay and optional driver monitoring. It works with Jimi’s Tracksolid Pro platform, or can connect to other platforms through Jimi’s API. Optional cabin cameras are available.

Good for: Budget-conscious fleets that need the basics done well.

Watch out for: Setup on some Jimi devices relies heavily on SMS commands, which slows down large rollouts. Traknova integrates with Jimi IoT, and we’ve written about Jimi trackers going offline if you already run their hardware.

4. Howen Hero ME40

A compact 3-channel AI dashcam with 4G, GPS, ADAS and DSM. It has several discrete inputs, optional OBD integration and a sleep and wake mode to keep reporting location while parked. It’s supported by several common fleet platforms.

Good for: Fleets that want a small unit with good platform compatibility.

Watch out for: UK installer familiarity is lower than for Teltonika or Streamax, so check who’ll fit and support it. Traknova integrates with Howen.

5. Subscription camera platforms

Providers like Samsara and Lytx bundle hardware, software and support into one monthly contract. You don’t choose the camera separately.

Good for: Larger fleets that want one vendor for everything.

Watch out for: Longer contracts and less flexibility if you want to mix hardware or switch platforms later. We compare Traknova and Samsara directly, and list other Samsara alternatives.

How to choose

The hardware specs across these cameras are closer than the marketing suggests. These are the things that usually decide it.

The software

Where will your team view alerts and footage every day? If the platform is clunky, the camera won’t get used. Ask for a demo of the actual dashboard, not just the hardware.

Data costs

Live streaming and event uploads eat mobile data. Get a real monthly cost per vehicle based on your driving patterns, not a best-case estimate.

False alerts

A camera that cries wolf gets ignored. Ask for a trial on a handful of your own vehicles and count how many alerts are genuine.

UK support

Who installs it, who fixes it, and how fast? A cheaper camera with no local support often costs more over three years.

Driver ID

If drivers swap vehicles, this matters more than an extra ADAS feature. Without it, driver scores end up attached to cars rather than people.

Mixed fleets

If you run several camera brands, or trackers from different makers, you want one platform that shows everything. See our guide to tracking a mixed fleet.

Fleet-by-fleet picks

Taxi and PHV. The KeepCam, Hikvision G40 or Jimi JC261 all cover front and cabin. Check your licensing authority’s CCTV rules first. Our taxi dashcam guide for PCO operators covers London.

Car rental. Driver ID and power-cut protection matter most. The KeepCam is strong here. See our car rental page.

Dealerships. Simplicity wins. A single front-facing camera with tracking covers most demo and courtesy car needs. See our dealerships page.

FAQ

Should I wait for the KeepCam to mature?

If you need cameras now, a proven option like the Hikvision G40 or Streamax AD Plus is a safe choice. If you can trial before committing, test the KeepCam alongside one of them on a few vehicles and let the results decide.

Do all these cameras support live video?

Yes. All five options stream over 4G, though quality and reliability depend on signal, data plans and the platform you use to view them.

Is a cheaper AI dashcam good enough?

Often, yes, for cars and taxis. The difference shows in false alert rates, support and platform quality more than in the hardware itself.

Will a dashcam reduce my insurance?

It can help, especially with fault disputes. See does a dashcam reduce fleet insurance or try our insurance savings calculator.

Can I switch camera brands later?

Yes, if your platform supports multiple brands. That’s a good reason to choose the software carefully.

Our take

For taxi, PHV and rental fleets, any of the first four can do the job. The decision is mostly about platform, support and cost per vehicle. If you’re starting fresh and want tracking and video in one device, the KeepCam deserves a serious look as it matures.
