Teltonika KeepCam vs ProCam: Which AI Dashcam Does Your Fleet Need?
Charles Alexis
Teltonika’s two new AI dashcams share most of their brains, so the choice comes down to your vehicles and how much you need to see.
The short answer
Pick the KeepCam if you run cars, taxis, PHVs or small vans and mostly care about what happens in front of the vehicle.
Pick the ProCam if you run vans, trucks or trailers, need to watch the driver as standard, or need cameras covering blind spots and cargo.
If you want the background on both first, start with our KeepCam and ProCam explainer.

What’s the same
Both are standalone units with tracking, 4G, live streaming and edge AI built in. You don’t need a separate Teltonika tracker for either.
Both recognise up to 200 drivers, have a built-in speaker for talking to drivers, and use supercapacitor backup so footage closes cleanly if power is cut in a crash. Both are configured over Wi-Fi in Teltonika’s TCT tool, with live preview to check camera angles during install.
They also share the same input and output setup. That means both can take turn signal inputs to improve lane departure accuracy, a door sensor, and an output to drive an immobiliser relay or a buzzer.
For a fleet manager, the day-to-day experience is similar. Alerts, driver scoring and footage retrieval work the same way.
Where they differ
Driver monitoring
This is the biggest practical difference. The ProCam watches the driver out of the box. The KeepCam needs an add-on DSM camera module to do the same.
If you want fatigue and phone-use detection on every vehicle, the ProCam saves an extra part and an extra install step per vehicle. Across a fleet of 30 vans, that adds up in both hardware and labour.
If you only want road-facing evidence, the KeepCam keeps things simple and cheaper.
Coverage
The KeepCam can run up to 3 cameras in total: its own front camera plus 2 modules. That covers front, rear and cabin, which is enough for most cars and taxis.
The ProCam supports up to 6 streaming channels. That’s what you need for near 360° coverage on a van or HGV, including both sides and a cargo area. Our guide to planning a dashcam setup by vehicle type breaks down how many channels each vehicle really needs.
Build
Teltonika describes the ProCam as rugged and aimed at heavy fleets. If your vehicles spend long hours on the road, on construction sites or in rough conditions, that matters.
Privacy
The ProCam’s privacy mode lets driver monitoring be paused during breaks. For fleets with employed drivers, this makes your GDPR position easier to defend. We cover this in our driver-facing camera and GDPR guide.
Matching the camera to your fleet
Taxi and PHV operators
KeepCam, with a cabin module if you want evidence of what happens with passengers. Check your licensing authority’s CCTV rules before adding an in-cabin camera. Our taxi dashcam guide for PCO operators and TfL dash cam FAQ cover the London rules. More on our taxi and PHV page.
Car rental and leasing
KeepCam. Front and rear coverage handles most damage disputes. Driver ID helps when vehicles change hands often. See our car rental and vehicle leasing pages.
Dealerships
KeepCam for demo and courtesy cars, where tracking and front-facing evidence do most of the work. We’ve covered loan car and test drive tracking separately.
Delivery vans and logistics
ProCam. Side and rear modules cover reversing, loading and lane-change incidents, which are where many van claims come from. The driver camera helps with fatigue on long shifts. See our logistics page.
Field services
Depends on the vehicle. Engineers in small vans can get by with a KeepCam. Larger service vehicles with equipment on board suit the ProCam. More on our field services page.
Cost thinking
Teltonika hadn’t published UK pricing at the time of writing. When you get quotes, compare the full cost per vehicle, not just the camera:
- The camera itself
- Any modules you need, such as a DSM camera for the KeepCam
- Installation time per vehicle
- Monthly data for live streaming and uploads
- Platform subscription
A KeepCam plus a DSM module may end up close to a ProCam on hardware cost, with an extra install step. Do the sums for your actual setup.
Before you buy
Ask your supplier about UK pricing, the monthly data cost for live streaming, and which platform the footage will be viewed on. The hardware is only half the decision. The software your team uses every day matters just as much.
Traknova already integrates with Teltonika dashcams, so ask us about KeepCam and ProCam support.
FAQ
Is the ProCam overkill for a taxi?
Usually, yes. A taxi rarely needs more than front, cabin and rear, which the KeepCam covers. The ProCam’s extra channels and rugged build are wasted on most cars. Spend the difference on a hidden tracker or immobiliser instead.
Can both cameras talk to drivers?
Yes. Both have a built-in speaker, so managers can speak to drivers directly after an alert or during an incident.
Can I mix KeepCams and ProCams in one fleet?
Yes. Many mixed fleets will put KeepCams in cars and ProCams in vans. Make sure your platform shows both in one place.
Does ADAS work on the extra cameras?
No. On both models, ADAS only runs on the front-facing camera. Extra modules record and stream.
Which is better for insurance claims?
Both record the road ahead with power-cut protection. The ProCam’s extra channels help in side and rear incidents. Our guide to dashcam evidence for insurance claims explains what insurers look for.
