Teltonika LED Lights Meaning: What Your Tracker Is Telling You
Charles Alexis
Teltonika trackers have two small LEDs that tell you a lot about what is going on. Once you know the patterns, you can diagnose most problems in seconds.
The two LEDs
Most Teltonika FMB and FMC trackers have:
- a navigation LED, which shows GPS status
- a status LED, which shows device and network status
Exact patterns can differ slightly between models and firmware, so always check the Teltonika wiki for your specific device. The patterns below apply to many common models like the FMB920, FMB140 and FMC series.
Navigation LED (GPS)
| Pattern | What it usually means |
|---|---|
| Blinking every second | Normal. GPS is working |
| Permanently on | GPS signal not received |
| Off | GPS is off, either device is in sleep or not working |
If it stays on
The tracker is trying but cannot get a GPS fix. Check:
- The vehicle is not underground or inside a building.
- The tracker is mounted with a clear view up, not under metal.
- Nothing metal is blocking the GPS side of the device.
- The windscreen does not have a metal coating, if the tracker is behind it.
Give it a few minutes in open sky. If it never gets a fix, see our guide to a GPS tracker that is not accurate.
Status LED
| Pattern | What it usually means |
|---|---|
| Blinking every second | Normal mode |
| Blinking every 2 seconds | Deep sleep mode |
| Blinking fast for a short time | Modem activity, sending or receiving data |
| Blinking fast constantly | Boot mode |
| Off | Device not working, or in boot mode |
Blinking every 2 seconds
The tracker is in deep sleep to save the vehicle battery. This is normal when parked, depending on your settings. If it stays asleep when the vehicle is moving, check the sleep settings and ignition source in the Teltonika Configurator.
Blinking fast constantly
The tracker is in boot mode, usually during or after a firmware update. If it stays like this, the update may have failed. Try updating again with the Configurator.
Off
No power, or a serious fault. Check the power supply, fuse and earth.
Both LEDs off
If both lights are off, the device has no power, or LED indication has been turned off in settings. Teltonika lets you disable LEDs to make trackers harder to spot. Check the configuration before assuming a power fault.
LEDs look normal but tracker is offline
If the LEDs show normal operation but the platform shows offline, the problem is probably the SIM, APN or server settings, not the device. See our guides to Teltonika trackers offline and Teltonika trackers not connecting.
Using Teltonika with Traknova
Traknova integrates with Teltonika trackers, so you can see device health, location and alerts on one dashboard without decoding LEDs in a car park. See our Teltonika integration and our guide to Teltonika GPS trackers.
Summary
Navigation LED blinking once a second means GPS is fine. Status LED blinking once a second means the device is fine. Anything else points you to the fix.
