Teltonika DualCam Not Working? How to Fix Images and Video Not Sending
Charles Alexis
The Teltonika DualCam adds front and cabin cameras to a Teltonika tracker. When it stops sending images or video, the issue is usually the connection between camera and tracker, or the configuration.
How the DualCam works
The DualCam does not connect to the internet on its own. It plugs into a compatible Teltonika tracker, and the tracker sends the images or clips to your platform. That means a DualCam problem can actually be a tracker problem.
Before you dig in, confirm the tracker itself is online and sending location data. If it is not, start with our guide to Teltonika trackers offline.
Step 1: check compatibility
The DualCam only works with certain Teltonika trackers and firmware versions. Check Teltonika’s official compatibility list for your tracker model, and check the tracker firmware is recent enough to support it.
If someone has paired the camera with a tracker that does not support it, nothing else on this list will fix it.
Step 2: check the wiring
The camera connects to the tracker through a cable to the tracker’s interface port.
- Check the cable is fully seated at both ends.
- Check the camera has power. Look for its indicator lights.
- Check the cable has not been pinched behind trim during install.
Step 3: check the configuration
The tracker needs to be configured to talk to the camera. Using the Teltonika Configurator, check:
- The interface port the camera is connected to is set to the camera mode.
- Camera settings are enabled.
- Triggers for taking photos or clips are set, for example on an event, on a schedule or on request.
A tracker reset or firmware update can clear these settings.
Step 4: check the SD card
The DualCam stores footage on a card. A missing, full or failed card can stop it working. Format or replace it. See our guide to dash cam SD card errors.
Step 5: check the platform
Even when the camera and tracker are working, the platform has to support Teltonika camera data. If you can see the tracker online but no images, check your platform supports DualCam files and that the device is set up correctly on it.
Step 6: check the data
Photos and video use far more data than location tracking. If the tracker’s SIM is on a small data plan, it may be hitting its limit and stopping uploads.
Common symptoms
- Tracker online, no images at all: wiring, port configuration or compatibility.
- Images sometimes, not always: triggers set wrong, poor signal or data limits.
- Video requests time out: weak signal or data limits. Video takes much longer to upload than photos.
- Images black or blurry: lens dirty, covered, or the camera facing the wrong way.
Running DualCam with Traknova
Traknova integrates with Teltonika trackers and the DualCam, so you can see location, events and camera footage on one dashboard. When a camera stops sending, you get an alert rather than finding out after an incident.
See our Teltonika dash cam integration and Teltonika integration pages, or our guide to Teltonika GPS trackers.
Summary
Confirm the tracker is online first. Then check compatibility, wiring, configurator port settings and the SD card. Most DualCam problems are configuration, not hardware.
