Concox and Jimi Tracker LED Lights Meaning: A Quick Fault Guide

Charles Alexis

Concox and Jimi IoT trackers usually have a few small LEDs that tell you whether the device has power, network and GPS. Here is how to read them.

A quick note on models

Jimi IoT and Concox are closely linked, and many of their trackers use similar LED patterns. But patterns do vary by model and firmware. Use this as a general guide, and check the manual for your exact device if something does not match.

The usual three LEDs

Many models have three indicators, often colour coded:

  • Power or battery LED, often red or orange
  • Network LED, often green, showing mobile network and data
  • GPS LED, often blue, showing satellite fix

Some smaller or hidden models have fewer LEDs, or none at all.

Network LED (often green)

On many models:

  • Fast flashing: searching for network or starting up.
  • Slow flashing: connected to the network.
  • Solid on: connected, or in some models, a fault. Check the manual.
  • Off: no network, no SIM, or sleeping.

If it never moves from fast flashing, the tracker cannot register on the network. Check the SIM is in correctly, active, has data and has no PIN. Also check it works on the network technology the device supports. See our guide to the 2G and 3G switch-off.

GPS LED (often blue)

On many models:

  • Fast flashing: searching for satellites.
  • Slow flashing or solid: GPS fix found.
  • Off: GPS sleeping or off.

If it keeps searching, move the vehicle into open sky. Check the tracker is not mounted under metal or behind a coated windscreen. See GPS tracker not accurate.

Power LED (often red)

On many models:

  • Solid: charging or on external power.
  • Flashing: low battery.
  • Off: fully charged, or no power.

If it shows low battery on a hardwired tracker, the external power may have been cut. Check the fuse and earth.

Lights look fine but tracker is offline

If network and GPS both look healthy but the platform shows offline, the APN or server settings are probably wrong. Many Concox and Jimi devices can be checked by SMS using commands like STATUS# or PARAM#, and settings changed with commands like APN,yourapn#. Check your manual for exact formats.

More detail in our guides to Concox GPS tracker not connecting and Jimi IoT tracker offline.

No lights at all

No lights usually means no power. But some trackers turn the LEDs off after a few minutes to stay hidden. Power cycle the device and watch the LEDs straight after start up.

Using Concox and Jimi with Traknova

Traknova integrates with both Concox and Jimi IoT devices, so you can monitor device health remotely instead of reading LEDs in a car park. See our Concox integration and Jimi IoT integration pages.

Summary

Network LED tells you about the SIM. GPS LED tells you about satellites. Power LED tells you about supply. Match the pattern, fix that part, and you are most of the way there.
